Midland Area Community Foundation and Long-Term Recovery Group to explore flood recovery housing needs and resources

In conjunction with the Long-Term Recovery Group, Midland Area Community Foundation will be exploring flood recovery housing needs and resources during the July 8, 2021 Flood Recovery Session via Zoom at 10:30 AM.

“Midland Area Community Foundation understands that the best things happen when we work collaboratively with community members and our partners to create dialogue, advocate for change, and act on important matters that impact the region,” said Sharon Mortensen, President & CEO of the Midland Area Community Foundation and member of the Long-Term Recovery Group Steering Committee. “We believe engaging in dialogue about our region’s challenges with experts in the housing community will provide transparency about the work that still lies ahead.”

Presenters for July’s session are Donna St. John from Home to Stay, Jennifer Chapel from Habitat for Humanity, and Jennifer Acosta from Jennifer Acosta Development. The session will cover the housing insecurities caused by the 2020 flooding event.

“Affordable housing was a need in the community before the flood and is an even greater need now,” said St. John.

Flood Recovery Sessions are open to everyone. Attendees are required to register for sessions at www.midlandfoundation.org/zoomintoflood.
