Santa set to arrive at the Midland Area Santa House in Downtown Midland on December 3rd, Sensory-Friendly Nights to Return

The annual Midland Area Santa House and Courthouse Lighting Ceremony will occur on Tuesday, December 3rd, in Downtown Midland. Before the lighting ceremony, Santa and Mrs. Claus will travel from the Tridge to Main Street at 6:30 PM, where they will join the crowd at the Courthouse to lead a countdown. From there, they will open the Santa House and welcome families until 9:00 PM. This free family event is organized by the Midland Area Community Foundation, which supports the Midland Area Santa House operations and Northern Star Train.

The Midland Area Santa House, located at the corner of M-20 and Main Street, is an iconic landmark in Midland. It was built in 1987 with assistance from the Midland Area Community Foundation and generous donors. Annual operations are made possible by the support of the Community Foundation’s staff, the donation of time from volunteers, and endowed funds held at the Midland Area Community Foundation.

“One of the strengths of Your Community Foundation is the ability to be a part of projects that result in long-term transformation,” said Sharon Mortensen, President and CEO of the Midland Area Community Foundation. “The Midland Area Santa House shows what’s possible when the power of endowed funds meets donor passion and dedication.”

The Midland Area Santa House will be open daily from December 3rd to December 23rd. The three days following Santa’s arrival are sensory-friendly nights. Please contact the Midland Area Community Foundation at 989-839-9661 to coordinate your sensory-friendly visit.

Volunteers will help with visits with Santa and rides on the Northern Star Train by stepping into the role of “elf.” Volunteers who would like to assist with Santa excursions will be surrounded by the wonders of the Santa House for three-hour timeslots. Volunteers like to help with the Northern Star Train will organize rides through beautifully decorated Downtown Midland. Signups will open on November 8th at 8 AM for community members to claim their slot.

Those seeking to volunteer can visit midlandfdn.org/santahouse or call 989-839-9661 to sign up for a time slot. Additional information can be found on the Santa House Facebook page at facebook.com/midlandsantahouse.
